Yuck

I say, "echhh. Sick. My chest hurts, sneezy, congested, coughing. Miserable." I felt like death warmed over. My doctor is great. When I need to see him, they're always so great about getting me in either the same day or the next. The doctor says, "Welcome to what everyone has. It's a virus. Here's a free sample of Flonase to supress your nasal sinus inflamation. This will reduce your likelyhood of developing an infection by keeping your nasal passages and throat from swelling. Get some rest, drink plenty of fluids. If your boogers turn yellow or green, call us immediately. We'll call in an antibiotic for you, you don't need to come back in... that will be $90.00 please." They don't even kiss you on the back of the neck after they bend you over anymore. I let him know I was having a hard time sleeping at night 'cause I couldn't stop coughing. He said it's more likely post nasal drip than chest congestion & agreed to call in a strong cough syrup that would help me sleep.
I went to CVS pharmacy to pick up the tiny brown bottle of cough syrup and when they told me the total, I about fainted. $40.00 after my health insurance paid. I asked what the total was. It was $49.19. Harvard Pilgrim only paid $9.00. They said because there was no generic, it's top tier. I told the girl, "it's just cough syrup with something to help me sleep." The pharmacist looked over the wall and said, "oh this will help you sleep for sure, and then some. It's Tussionex. Strong stuff." I told the tech, "take it back, I don't need a $40.00 cough syrup. I'll call my doctor" which I did.
Then for shits and giggles, I called my doctor and told them how much it was. I asked the secretary to have him send the script over to Walmart. I've always heard everyone say that the Walmart pharmacy is the cheapest, as they seem to be for everything else, why not cough syrup? I picked it up for a total of $9.38, without submitting it to my health insurance. I COULD'NT BELIEVE IT! Turns out my doctor changed the perscription to Cheratssin AC, which is like Robitussin AC. Eh, as long as it works, I don't care. I'm just sick of being sick.

I feel for you!! I had that last week. Takes about 5 days to get over. Hang in there. First 2 days you feel wiped out.. then you just are blowing your nose like crazy. Last day you sound worse than you really are. Drink some airborn. Worked pretty well for me.
